Scene selections let your viewers easily navigate to specific chapters within your video. There are two ways to create them:
Add Scenes (recommended) – A fast, automated workflow available on Growth plans and above.
Manual method – A slower process available to all plans, including Free and Starter.
Add Scenes Method (Growth Plans and Above)
The Add Scenes feature can save you an hour or more per project by auto-generating chapter buttons from embedded chapters, imported chapter files, or timecodes you set manually.
In the Presentation Editor, click the Scenes button at the top.
Select the video you want to use and click Next.
Choose one of the following:
Embedded Chapters – If chapters are embedded in your video, they will be imported automatically. Learn how to embed chapters in your video files
Import Chapters – Import a chapter file exported from your editing program. Learn how to export/import chapters
Manual Entry – Scrub through the video and click Add Scene at each desired timecode.
Edit or remove chapters in the list as needed. Imported chapters outside the video’s timecode range will appear in red.
Choose where the generated scene buttons should appear: the current menu, a new menu, or a specific submenu.
Click Generate Scenes. Thumbnails are created automatically (1 second after each scene start), or from the poster frame specified in your imported chapter file (Final Cut Pro only).
Manual Method (All Plans)
If you’re on the Free or Starter plan, or prefer more control, you can manually create scene buttons:
Add the video to your presentation menu using the Video button.
Open the video button’s settings (hover + settings icon, or select it in the left-side Navigation panel).
Click Make a Copy of the button for each scene you want to create.
For each copy:
Repeat until all scenes are added.
Updating Scenes
To change a scene’s start time later, reopen its button settings. You can edit the timecode manually or use the stopwatch to update it to the current preview position.
✅ Tip: For faster workflows, use the Add Scenes feature with embedded or imported chapters if your plan supports it. Manual scene creation is best for Free/Starter users or when fine-tuning individual chapters.
