Chapters let you break your videos into sections, making it easy for viewers to jump to the part they want. In MediaZilla, chapters are used to create scene selection menus in presentations.
There are two ways to set up chapters in MediaZilla:
Using the Scenes feature (Growth plan and above): The fastest way to build chapter menus, with support for importing embedded or exported chapter files.
Manual setup (All plans): Add multiple video buttons that reference the same video and adjust each button’s start time to create a custom chapter menu.
Exporting Chapters from Your Editing Program
To streamline the process, you can prepare chapters in your editing software and bring them into MediaZilla. There are three ways to do this:
Embed chapters directly into your video file
Chapters are “baked into” the exported video.
When uploaded, these chapters are auto-detected and imported when using the Scenes feature.
Supported by DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premiere.
Export a chapter file
Export your timeline markers as a TXT, CSV, XML, or EDL file (depends on the editing program).
Import this file during the Scenes workflow in MediaZilla.
Create a custom TXT file
Manually create your own chapter list using timecodes in the format:
hh:mm:ss:ff [TAB] Chapter Title
.Example:
00:00:07:21 Intro
00:00:20:07 Getting Started
00:00:29:09 Winding Down
00:00:36:02 The End

Importing Chapters into MediaZilla
Embedded chapters → auto-imported when you add scenes to the video in a presentation.
Chapter files (TXT, CSV, XML, EDL) → can be imported manually during the Add Scenes process.
Once chapters are set for a video in MediaZilla, they stay linked to that video and will automatically import again the next time you use the Scenes feature.
