Follow these steps to export your videos from iMovie for the best results on MediaZilla.
Export Steps
- In iMovie, go to File → Share → File…
- In the export window, set: - Resolution: Match your project (commonly 1080p for HD, or 4K if your project was created in 4K).
- Quality: High (recommended) or Best (ProRes) if you want maximum quality.
- Compress: Better Quality (slower but produces better results).

- Click Next, choose where to save the file, then click Save.
Codec Notes
- On macOS, iMovie automatically uses HEVC (H.265) when available for High or Best exports at 1080p or 4K.
- If HEVC isn’t available on your system, exports will use H.264, which is also fully supported by MediaZilla.
Important Notes
- Resolution: Always use even-numbered width and height values (iMovie handles this automatically).
- Chapters: iMovie does not export timeline markers as chapters. If you want chapters, add them later in another editor (e.g., Final Cut Pro or Resolve).
