How do I translate captions into different languages?

Translate and upload captions in multiple languages on MediaZilla so viewers can choose subtitles in their preferred language.

Updated this week

Adding captions in multiple languages makes your videos more accessible to a global audience. MediaZilla allows you to generate captions in the original language, then translate them into additional languages for viewers to select.

1. Generate and Download Captions

First, generate captions in the original spoken language of your video.

Once generated, open the Captions tab in your video settings and click the three dots next to the caption language. Select Download to save the file (in VTT format) to your computer.

2. Translate Captions Into Other Languages

Use a translation tool, such as ChatGPT, to convert the captions into your desired language(s).

  1. Upload the downloaded captions file.

3. Upload the Translated Captions to MediaZilla

Return to the Captions tab in your video settings and click Upload.

  • Select the correct language from the dropdown.

  • Choose the translated captions file from your computer.

Repeat this process for each language you want to add.
